LET NO MAN DECEIVE YOU
Paul wrote, "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition" (2 Thessalonians 2:3).

The phrase, "a falling away", in Greek is "apostasia" which is defined in Vines' Expository Dictionary as "a defection, revolt, apostasy, is used in the New Testament of religious apostasy; in Acts 21:21, it is translated 'to forsake,' literally, 'thou teachest apostasy from Moses.' In 2 Thess. 2:3, 'the falling away' signifies apostasy from the faith. In papyri documents it is used politically of rebels."

Today, as we look around, we can see that this "falling away" has been happening for centuries and continues even now. The biggest example is the Roman Catholic church who follow the traditions of men rather than the Word of God. This very dangerous position is eternally fatal for those who do not repent by coming out of this false religion. Worshipping Mary and the pope, partaking in wine and wafer believing it is the actual body and blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, paying money to save souls from pergatory are a few of their unscriptural activities. Read the Bible and discover the Truth. The Lord Jesus Christ says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

If you are in an apostate church, come out now and "be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." (2 Corinthians 6:14-18)

"...the Roman Catholic church who follow the traditions of men rather than the Word of God."

Actually, the Catholic Church follows the Word of God through its traditions, which are part of Christ's revelation.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say to follow Scripture alone.

"Worshipping Mary and the pope"

We don't worship them, although it may look like that to an outsider. We respect them.

"partaking in wine and wafer believing it is the actual body and blood of the Lord Jesus Christ"

Just as Christ taught us. See John 6, where He teaches this over and over again.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your honest thoughts and comments. We may need to agree to disagree on the points you made, but truly my main concern for you and all of us is, where will we spend eternity? Please read my post today, Dec 11,2005, (http://enjoyingthejourney.blogspot.com/2005/12/what-must-i-do-to-be-saved-saved-from.html) which talks about "What must I do to be saved?" and let me know what you think. I really don't want to argue, so let's go to the holy scriptures to see what the Lord says.

May you be greatly blessed in the journey with Jesus, my friend.
